What will fit a person to dwell on the earth made new, in the presence of the God who made heaven and earth, who cannot bear sin in His kingdom?
Here is the question repeated, and answered by inspiration: "Lord, who shall abide in your tabernacle? who shall dwell in your holy hill? He that walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart. He that backbites not with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned, but he honors them that fear the Lord. He that swears to his own hurt, and changes not. He that puts not out his money to usury, nor takes reward against the innocent. He that does these things shall never be moved." (Psalm 15:1-5) "Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth. ... Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God." (Matthew 5:5,8) "Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." (Revelation 22:14)
And how shall we obtain this righteousness? "The righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God, which is by faith of Jesus Christ, unto all and upon all them that believe; for there is no difference; For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified [made righteous] freely by His grace, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus."
